Default Did I screw up?

My most advanced character is an Elementalist/Ranger that acts as a Pyromancer. I use it for PVE with a friend. Did I make a bad move by going ranger and using fire? The air builds that cross with mesmer sound so appealing to me. I would only start over if I really made a bad move. Any opinions?

Level 20 right? What about switching to air or water?

EDIT: I also wonder, if I keep the Ranger skills should I have beast mastery or wilderness survival?

Go look in the Elementalist Basics thread, there is a good (well i think its unique, since I havent seen it around the boards) build using E/R. Its at the bottom of the second page.
It uses High powered fire skills in conjunction with the "winter" spirit to convert the fire dmg into cold dmg.
Hope this helps.

You can switch to air or water at any time by moving around your attribute points. You might want to read the manual, etc.

I know EXACTLY how to switch the points, no need to read the manual there. What I need to know is how to get the specific air spells and from whom now that I am post-searing. Do I have to go to the skill trainer and fork over money and skill points? Thanks.

You get skills from missions and by buying from trainers--you have no control over which skills you get from missions and it has nothing to do with where you have your points distributed.

Elementalists usually get a lot of Fire skills early. Just keep playing (and buying skills too) and you'll get some nice air skills.

Plenty of options for an Air E/R.

Conjure Lightning + Glimmering Mark + Tigers Fury. (Blind everyone).
Edge of Extinction + Lots of Air Spike Damage. (Kill one fast, watch the rest take a hit).
Air spells to pull aggro + Ranger Traps. (Get them running at you, watch them die when they do).

There are lots of skills available to Rangers that can have a dramatic effect when wisely combined. Look through them, and see if you get inspired.

Okay, one quick thing. Beast Mastery or Wilderness survival, which is more useful? Thanks.

Are traps and stuff better than a pet?

Why don't you try it out Casonetto? It's really easy to switch your build, so you can try both traps and pets to see which is better.

Well I would like to try Wilderness Survival but I think for the moment all the people who train the trap skills and etc. are in far away zones.
